ORDERING & PAYMENT
How do I purchase a painting?
Click “Add to Cart” on any product page, proceed to checkout, and complete payment. You’ll receive order confirmation immediately via email.
What payment methods do you accept?
We accept all major credit cards (Visa, Mastercard, American Express, Discover) via secure Stripe payment processing.
We also offer payment plans through Afterpay/Klarna – pay in 4 interest-free installments over 6 weeks.
Is my payment information secure?
Yes. We use Stripe, the same secure payment processor used by Amazon, Google, and millions of other businesses.
We never see or store your credit card information.
Can I pay with PayPal?
Currently we accept credit cards and Afterpay/Klarna. If you need an alternative payment method, contact mail@barkwald.com.
What currency are prices in?
All prices on barkwald.com are in US Dollars (USD). Your credit card company will convert to your local currency automatically.

SHIPPING & DELIVERY
Is shipping really free worldwide?
Yes! Every original painting ships free to any address worldwide. The only exception is extremely remote locations – if you’re unsure, email me.
How long does shipping take?
• US/Canada: 7-14 business days
• UK/Europe: 5-10 business days
• Australia/Asia: 10-21 business days
• Customs processing may add 2-5 days
How will my painting be packaged?
Professional art packaging in custom wooden crate, fully insured, handled by specialists. Same method museums use.

Do I have to pay customs/import duties?
Shipping is free, but customs duties/taxes are the buyer’s responsibility and vary by country. Most countries have exemptions for original art. We provide all documentation to make clearance smooth.
Can I track my shipment?
Yes! You’ll receive tracking information within 24 hours of dispatch and can follow your painting’s journey every step of the way.
What if my painting is damaged in transit?
Every shipment is fully insured. Contact me immediately with photos and I handle everything – you get a refund or replacement. No hassle, no deductible.
ABOUT THE PAINTINGS
Are these original paintings or prints?
Original paintings are one-of-a-kind, hand-painted works on canvas. Only ONE exists.
Fine Art Prints are high-quality reproductions, signed and numbered in limited editions.
Posters are museum-quality prints on demand.
Each product page clearly states which type it is.
What size are the paintings?
Sizes vary by piece and are listed on each product page. Most originals range from 100cm x 100cm to 150cm x 150cm (approximately 40″ x 40″ to 60″ x 60″).
What materials are used?
• Paint: Professional grade acrylics
• Surface: Gallery-wrapped cotton canvas
Are the paintings framed?
Original paintings arrive unframed but ready to hang (stretched on wooden bars with hanging hardware attached).
This allows you to choose a frame that fits your personal style and décor. Many collectors display them unframed for a contemporary look.
Do paintings come with a certificate of authenticity?
Yes! Every original painting includes:
• Signed certificate of authenticity
• Documentation of materials and creation date
• Care instructions
• Artist statement
RETURNS & EXCHANGES
What is your return policy?
30-day return policy on all original paintings and prints.
If you’re not completely satisfied, contact me within 30 days of delivery. Return shipping is at buyer’s expense, but once I receive the painting in original condition, you’ll receive a full refund.
Can I exchange for a different painting?
Yes! If you’d like to exchange for another piece of equal or greater value, contact me at rohhna@barkwald.com and we’ll arrange it.
What if the painting doesn’t match my décor?
I’m happy to help you choose the right piece before purchasing.
Email me photos of your space and I can advise which painting would work best.
That said, all sales are backed by our 30-day return policy if it’s truly not the right fit.
CUSTOM COMMISSIONS
Do you take custom commission requests?
Occasionally! I take on a limited number of commissions each year.
If you know exactly which animal is your Fylgja and want a custom painting created specifically for you, email me at rohhna@barkwald.com with:
• Your desired animal
• Size preferences
• Any color/style preferences
• Timeline needs
Commission pricing starts at $2,500 and timeline is typically 4-8 weeks.
Can you paint my pet as a Fylgja?
While I focus on wild animals for the Fylgja series, I’m occasionally open to painting beloved pets with wings if there’s a strong spiritual connection.

Can you recreate a sold painting?
No. Each Fylgja painting is a one-of-a-kind original. Once sold, it will never be recreated as an original.
However, fine art prints and posters are available for many pieces, allowing more people to connect with the imagery.
CARE & MAINTENANCE
How do I care for my painting?
Original paintings:
• Hang away from direct sunlight to prevent fading
• Avoid high humidity areas (like bathrooms)
• Dust gently with soft, dry cloth
• No water or cleaning products
Prints & posters:
• Frame under glass for protection
• Keep out of direct sunlight
• Handle by edges to avoid fingerprints
Full care instructions included with every order.
Do the colors fade over time?
Professional grade acrylics and protective varnish ensure your painting’s colors remain vibrant for decades when properly cared for (kept out of direct sunlight and extreme conditions).
Can the painting be cleaned?
Dust only with a soft, dry cloth. For any stains or deeper cleaning, consult a professional art conservator. Never use water, cleaning products, or abrasive materials.
ABOUT FYLGJA
What does Fylgja mean?
Fylgja (pronounced FILL-gya) is an Old Norse word meaning “to follow” or “to accompany.” It refers to a spirit guardian in animal form from Norse tradition.

How do I know which animal is my Fylgja?
There’s no single answer. Some people know immediately which animal resonates with them.
Others discover it through:
• Recurring dreams or visions
• Animals that appear repeatedly in your life
• Deep intuitive knowing when you see the image
• Meditation and contemplation
Trust your instincts. When you see your Fylgja, you’ll feel it.
Are these related to spirit animals or totems?
The concept is similar but distinct.
“Fylgja” is specifically from Norse/Germanic tradition, while “spirit animal” and “totem” come from various Indigenous cultures.
I use the Norse term because:
1. It’s my cultural heritage (I’m Danish)
2. It avoids appropriating from Indigenous traditions
3. It’s historically accurate to the artistic vision
All three concepts share the idea of spiritual connection between humans and animals, but come from different cultural contexts.
TECHNICAL QUESTIONS
Why can’t I add an item to cart?
If an original painting won’t add to cart, it’s already sold. Only ONE original exists per painting.
If you’re having technical issues, try:
• Refreshing the page
• Clearing your browser cache
• Using a different browser
• Emailing me directly to place the order
I didn’t receive my order confirmation email.
Check your spam/junk folder first. If it’s not there, email rohhna@barkwald.com with your order details and I’ll resend it.
Can I cancel my order?
If your painting hasn’t shipped yet, contact me immediately and I can cancel and refund your order.
Once shipped, our 30-day return policy applies instead.
